Beyonc launches scholarship for women on anniversary of ‘Lemonade’

One year after Beyonc gave the world Lemonade, shes celebrating by helpingother women express themselves creatively

Per anannouncement posted to her website Monday, Beyonc is launching the Formation Scholars, which will award four scholarships to young women for the 2017-2018 academic school year in celebration of Lemonades anniversary. The scholarships are designed for women who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious and confident.


There are limitations to the scholarships that Beyonc is offering. For one, the Formation Scholars program is limited to four universities: Berklee College of Music, Howard University, Parsons School of Design, and Spelman College. According to the press release, the women who applywhich can include incoming students, current students, and graduate studentsmust be studying creative arts, literature, music, or African-American studies.

According to a spokeswoman from Berklee, the women appointed Formation Scholars will receive $25,000 apiece.

Anyone interesting in applying will need to contact the four respective universities for details and forms.
